Decisions, doubts, timelines and paperwork.
The practical route from “is this mad?” to a plan that can survive real life.
UK → Goa · dogs · paperwork · house hunt · costs
We’re documenting the move from the UK to Goa: the house hunt, dog paperwork, costs, family history, remote work, mistakes, and small moments that make the long way home feel worth it.
Vet steps, crates, travel planning, mistakes and arrival notes.
Garden, shade, water, internet, road access and South Goa tradeoffs.
What we’re documenting
The practical route from “is this mad?” to a plan that can survive real life.
Vaccines, documents, crate training, flights and the mistakes we catch early.
Estimates, surprises, caveats and what reality corrects as we go.
What home feels like when you are both returning and starting again.
About the journey
We’re moving from the UK to Goa and documenting the process while it is still being worked out: the practical questions, family history, dog logistics, house hunting, remote work and cost decisions behind building a new life in India.
The aim is not to make it look effortless. It is to keep a useful record of what we check, what changes, what we get wrong, and how the long way home becomes real.
First notes to write
The honest context: UK to Goa, family history, what home means, and what this project will document.
Vet timelines, documents, crates, travel comfort, arrival planning and what still needs verifying.
Garden, shade, water, internet, road access and the practical tradeoffs behind the romantic idea.

Notes from the long way home
Useful checklists, cost updates, house hunt lessons, dog logistics and the bits that do not fit neatly into a social post.
