The announcement

We’re moving from the UK to South Goa. We are doing it as a family. The dogs are coming with us. The plan is real, but still full of open questions, half-solved admin and things we will probably only understand properly once we are further along.

That is why The Long Way Home exists.

Why Goa?

Goa is not just “somewhere sunny” for us. The pull is family, India, home, pace, land, weather, work, dogs, and the possibility of building a daily life that feels more rooted.

A holiday in Goa and living in Goa are different things. South Goa as a home means asking practical questions: where can we work reliably, where can the dogs settle, what happens in monsoon, and what does a good house actually need?

Why document it?

Most relocation stories are clean in hindsight. People show the arrival, the first morning, the finished home, the moment the big decision looks obvious.

The useful part is often earlier: the doubts, the spreadsheets, the paperwork, the wrong assumptions, the conversations that start with “is this mad?” We want to keep those parts visible.
