What this is
The Long Way Home is where we’re documenting the move properly: the paperwork, the house hunt, the dog logistics, the costs, the family history, the doubts, the useful discoveries and the bits people usually skip when they tell the story after everything has worked out.
This is not a “we moved to paradise” account. It is a family relocation journal, written while the move is still messy.
What we’ll document
Leaving the UK is not one dramatic decision. It is a stack of small ones: documents, timelines, packing, storage, shipping, money, work, family, dogs, goodbyes and the admin that turns a dream into a checklist.
We’ll keep track of dog travel, the South Goa house hunt, cost categories, remote-work practicality, family notes and the reality checks that make the move feel possible or impossible on any given day.
What this will not be
Not a luxury expat lifestyle account. Not “escape the UK” rage-bait. Not an ultimate guide before we have earned the right to write one. Not polished travel content pretending the difficult parts do not exist.
If something is beautiful, we’ll show it. If something is annoying, we’ll say that too. If we learn something useful, we’ll write it down.
